October Fun

Here are some of the things we have been up to lately (warning, lots of pictures!)

Pumpkin Patch

Every year we go to the same pumpkin patch. It's pretty small, but the kids love it and Chris and I love it because we get in and out in less than an hour.

Pumpkin Carving

Tonight we did the dreaded pumpkin carving (am I a horrible mom because I hate this and hope the kids forget to do it???) Chris is a good sport and helps them while I squirm at the sight of the pumpkin guts getting accidentally tossed onto the floor and nearby carpet.
Isaac wasn't too impressed with the inside of the pumpkin (check out his face in the photo above)
Just so you think we didn't leave Lily out, we let her play with the pumpkin carving knife. They are "kid safe" right?? I think she had fun eating the raw pumpkin off it.
Here is Lily's treat.
She and I had fun watching the big kids work on their master pieces.
WICKED

Umm, did you know I like the musical Wicked? I went again last week. Two of my friends hadn't seen it so I offered to go with them, because that is what kind of friend I am. One of them got sick last minute so my other friend gladly took her place. We had so much fun!!!
Number 6!
Remember him??? If not check him out here or here.
I think he may think I am stalking him.
All us with Elphaba (Vicki Noon) after the show. She is amazing!!!

Isaac's Letter to Daddy and some Isaacisms

Isaac has been missing daddy lately who has been working a lot (dang Oct. 15th deadline!). This morning he brought in a paper that had some letters randomly written on it and "read" me his letter to daddy.
Dear Daddy,
Can you please come home? I love you sooooo much. Come home from work. I want to go golfing with you. Mommy can come too, cuz I like being with momma.
Love,
Isaac
(Can I just bottle this kid and keep him this way forever??)
Isaacisms:
I love the way Isaac says these words:
Nola bar: Granola bar
Family-ling-ling: Family home evening
Pup-cakes: Cupcakes
Fruitons: Croutons
Milk-wash: Mouthwash
  • The other day when we were having lunch Isaac said to me, “Mom you have a lot of milk in your arms”. It took me a moment to realize he was saying I had big muscles (this kid is good for my ego!). We tell him to drink his milk so he has big muscles and he got it a bit confused!
  • Last week we went over to Nana's house. She has her house all decorated for Halloween with LOTS of fun things that make spooky noises. Isaac was having fun pushing all the buttons to make the noises and playing with stuff. At one point Abby scared him pretty bad with one of the witches. Fast forwarding a few days later when we were on our way to preschool which kind of goes by Nana's house:
Isaac: We're not going to Nana's house are we?
Me: No, why?
Isaac: I can't go to Nana's house, it's scary and makes me have bad dreams. (He actually did wake up a couple time with bad dreams that night which is very rare)
We talked a little more about it and I think he felt better. Yesterday he went to play at Nana's and was fine. Wheew....

My 18 Month Old!

I can hardly believe it but Lily turned 18 months old today. Where has the time gone? She is such a sweet girl. Her personality has really started to come out these last few months. She spoils me by taking two long naps a day and still sleeps over 12 hours at night. Some people say she is hardly awake! I think she will be phasing down to one nap in the next couple months, but I will take it as long as I can get it!

She has a stubborn streak and when she doesn't get her way she will let you know. She is known to cry so hard she will turn purple and collapse. The doctor said she is very talented to be able to do this and will eventually grow out of it (maybe when she is three she said!). Never a dull moment!

Lily loves the pool!

Lily has loved the pool this summer. Even from the start she had no fear and wanted to "swim" and go off the diving board. She gets mad sometimes when I would try to hold her in the water so she doesn't sink. This video is a small example of what she is like. It's not very good footage, but you get the point. I tried to upload a different video that was longer that showed her doing more but it didn't work. Our swim season is pretty much over this year, but I am sure she will be swimming on her own next year...

Legally Blonde!

This is what Anne and I went to see last week! It was SO much fun!

The crazy part was that Jeff McLean (a LDS singer and Michael McLean's son) was in it and I had no idea until he came out to sing. Don't tell Chris but I have had a big crush on him ever since I met him at Time Out For Women in 2004. (BTW his CD rocks, I love his voice!)

Here he is in Legally Blonde.

Here we are with the lead, Elle Woods (Becky Gulsvig)

Me and Jeff! I was super excited to get another picture with him. Do you think he remembered me???? HA!

This is when I met him in 2004. Please ignore my 90's hair. At this point I was just happy to have some! Also ignore the puffy face. I was 7 months prego with Isaac!

Legally Blonde is playing in Sacramento for another week.....Wish I could go again!!!
